Requesting information about your child's teacher

Dear Parent/Guardian:
As a parent or guardian of a student attending a school in the Indian River School District, you have the right to know the professional qualifications of the classroom teachers who instruct your child. Federal law allows you to ask for certain information about your child’s classroom teachers and requires us to give you this information in a timely manner if you ask for it. Specifically, you have the right to ask for the following information about each of your child’s classroom teachers:
1. Whether the teacher has met all Delaware licensing and certification requirements for the grades and subjects he or she teaches.
2. Whether the teacher is teaching under an emergency or other provisional certificate because of special circumstances.
3. The teacher’s major.
4. Whether the teacher has any advanced degrees and, if so, the subject of the degrees and
5. Whether any paraprofessionals provide services to your child and, if they do, their qualifications.
If you would like to receive any of this information, please contact your child’s principal.

Como padre o acudiente de un estudiante que asiste a una escuela en el distrito escolar de Indian River, Usted tiene el derecho de saber las calificaciones profesionales de los maestros que le enseñan a su hijo. La ley federal le permite a Usted que pida cierta información acerca de los maestros de su hijo y nos requiere que le demos esta información enuna manera oportuna si Usted nos la pide. Específicamente, Usted tiene el derecho de pedir la información siguiente acerca de cada uno de los maestros de su hijo:
1. Si el maestro ha cumplido con todos los requisitos de Delaware delicencias o certificaciones para los grados y las materias que enseña.
2. Si el maestro está enseñando con una certificación provisional o de emergencia a causa de unas circunstancias especiales.
3. La especialidad del maestro.
4. Si el maestro tiene licenciaturas avanzadas y, si las tiene, la material de las licenciaturas.
5. Si cualquier paraprofesional le provee servicios a su hijo y, si lo hace, sus calificaciones.
