Message from Robert Syphard, Assistant Principal

I have had the pleasure of working at Millsboro Middle School since 2012, starting as a 7th grade social studies teacher and became an assistant principal in 2019. My passion for education started with my love for history, geography, and academic research. From an early age, I was fascinated with diving into different time periods and trying to imagine what it would be like to live in another time. My interests then and now were greatly influenced by great teachers and the lessons I learned in school.

At Millsboro Middle, we are determined to provide relevant and rigorous instruction to inspire our students to become life-long learners. We embrace high quality curricular materials and have a range of high performing academic programs. Most recently, in 2019, we added Project Lead the Way as an exploratory. We are excited to offer this STEM pathway to students as a way to pique their interest in a variety of computer science and tech-related fields that they can continue learning about at the high school. We are also excited to have sent our first class of Spanish Immersion students to Sussex Central in 2022. Students learn highschool-level Spanish while they are in middle school, so they can earn college credits in highschool.

Our goal at Millsboro Middle is to engage all students in meaningful learning experiences to help them prepare for a happy, healthy, and successful life. I look forward to partnering with families and the school community to make this a reality.
